RULES, REGULATIONS, TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. TEAM REGISTRATION
  2. Each team must be registered with the FA by 17:00 on Friday 11th August 2017. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the FA, but any late entry will not start scoring points until the start of the next full scoring week. An appropriate team name must be provided. The FA reserves the right to refuse Fantasy Football League teams due to incomplete, illegible or late entries, team selections not meeting the selection criteria, or inappropriate or offensive team names.

  3. PLAYER LIST
  4. The FFL uses the list of players and scores published in the Daily Telegraph every Wednesday from August 16th 2017 until the end of the season. This list gives the value of each individual player. New players may be introduced into the game as and when appropriate during the season.

  5. PLAYER SELECTIONS / FORMATION
  6. Team selections must consist of 11 different players chosen from the player list, in one of the following formations: 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 5-3-2 or 5-4-1. The combined value of these players must not exceed £50 million. The team of 11 players must include 1 goalkeeper, between 3 and 5 defenders, between 3 and 5 midfielders and between 1 and 3 strikers. Managers may switch between formations by making transfers (see below). A player can only be selected once - player duplication is not permitted. There is no restriction on the number of players from the same Premier League club.

  7. SCORING POINTS
  8. Weekly scores will be calculated using the data provided in the player list published in the Daily Telegraph every Wednesday throughout the season. Points are awarded for Premier League and FA Cup matches. The scores published in the Daily Telegraph are final. Points will be awarded as follows: Player appearance in the starting XI +2, player appearance as a substitute +1, goal scored +5, key contribution to a goal +3, sent off -3, yellow card -1 (two yellow cards leading to a red card will count -3), missed penalty -2, own goal -3. For goalkeepers only, penalty save +5. For defenders and goalkeepers only, clean sheet (players completing 60 minutes or more) +5, clean sheet (players completing less than 60 minutes) +2, first goal conceded 0, each additional goal conceded -1. Points are not awarded for penalty shoot outs. All matches in the Premier League season will count from Saturday 13th August 2016 to the end of the season. Abandoned matches will not count. Each scoring week includes the results of matches from Tuesday to the following Monday. Points will be deducted or awarded to each manager's 11 player selections.

  9. TRANSFERS
  10. During the course of the season, managers may alter their team by effecting transfers. Each transfer request must be made through official channels to the FA by using the Transfer form clearly stating the codes of the outgoing and incoming player(s). Each manager is allowed 40 transfer opportunities and these may be used at any time during the season from Tuesday 15th August 2017. Managers may make no more than 5 transfers in any FFL scoring week (ie Tuesday to Monday), subject to the number of transfer opportunities remaining. Transfers beyond the maximum number allowed will be rejected. Valid transfer requests received by the FA will begin scoring points for the following Tuesday to Monday period (i.e. the first full scoring week after submission). No transfer requests will be accepted after the last Monday of the season. With all transfers, managers must ensure that their squad continues to meet the selection criteria detailed in point 3. Where multiple transfers are received on the same day, all transfers will be validated together. In the event that this renders the team invalid, the entire transfer activity received on that day will be rejected but this will not affect your entitlement. Once submitted, transfer requests cannot be amended. Newly transferred players are only eligible to be further transferred after the elapse of one week from the original date of submission.

  11. RULES
  12. The FA reserves the right to refuse Fantasy Football League teams due to incomplete, illegible or late entries, team selections not meeting the selection criteria, abuse from team managers, or inappropriate or offensive team names. The FA reserves the right to refuse participation to any application which in the FA's sole opinion does not comply with the rules and regulations of the game or which contravenes the spirit of the game of Fantasy Football League. The FA, as governing body and in the interests of fair play, are liable to deduct points or take whatever action is deemed appropriate if there is any misconduct or contravention of the rules from any participating Manager.

  13. RESULTS
  14. In as far as is possible, weekly results will be posted in an updated TopFFL Premier League table every Wednesday throughout the season at the official TopFFL web site.

  15. TROPHY AND AWARDS
  16. The 'virtual' TopFFL Premier League Trophy will be awarded to the manager whose team has amassed the highest number of points in the league at the end of the season. The 'virtual' trophy remains the property of the FA but the winning manager will be allowed to hold the trophy for display purposes only until the end of the following season.

The TopFFL 'Manager of the Week' title will be awarded each week to the manager whose team has scored the most points in the league for that week. In the event of a tie, the title will be awarded to the team manager who has moved up the table by the most number of places in that same week. If there is still a tie, the manager whose team are lowest in the league for that week will be awarded the title.
